Chicago Bears: 5 takeaways from veteran minicamp
By Ryan Heckman
In the short amount of time he’s been in Chicago, he has embraced it. The city’s feelings are mutual.
Speaking of Nagy, I have to take a moment to say just how special I believe he is going to be. For the past couple of decades, the Bears have seen head coaches take the podium during a press conference and, a lot of times, get owned by the media.
Nagy is a different breed — he owns the room. He commands it with a presence unlike any coach the Bears have had in decades.

Think about the previous guys like John Fox, Marc Trestman, Lovie Smith and Dick Jauron. Most of them didn’t make you stand up out of your seat listening to them speak. Nagy does just that. His infectious personality, his passion and his clear vision as a leader of this team come to light each and every time he is at the podium.
This week’s time seeing Nagy take center stage after each practice made me realize just how significant of a hire this was for the Bears. He is not only intelligent, passionate and driven, but he is relationally-gifted as well.
Players respect him. They see his efforts to get to know each and every one of them. You can tell he wants to know his players as best he can, and not just football-wise. He’s a guy who cares. He’s got it all as a coach, and Chicago should be thrilled to have him.

Nagy is going to be one of those special coaches in sports, and I am thankful he is part of the Bears organization.
