Chicago Bears: Top 10 draft picks under Ryan Pace
By Ryan Heckman
4. Safety Eddie Jackson
I had a hard time choosing which safety to put higher on this list, but I think Eddie Jackson earned this spot because of where he came from. Pace took a chance on Jackson in the fourth round last year, just like Cohen, and Jackson proved every bit of a starting safety.
Jackson impressed so much during camp that he was given the nod as the starter at free safety, and my goodness he did not disappoint. The reason his draft stock fell to the fourth round was due to a broken leg that ended his last season at Alabama.
Pace remembered some key information, though: Defensive backs coming out of Bama are not ones to pass up.
Jackson lit the NFL world on fire, specifically, on the one-year anniversary of his broken leg when the Bears defeated the Carolina Panthers. Jackson registered two defensive touchdowns in the game and put everyone on notice: He had arrived.
Jackson, paired with Amos, gives the Bears a promising tandem at safety. A couple of years back, it was a position of significant weakness. Now, through the draft, Pace has done a phenomenal job solidifying that group for years to come.
