Chicago Bears: Top 10 draft picks under Ryan Pace
By Ryan Heckman
2. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky
For whatever reason, the national media would like every football fan to believe that Mitchell Trubisky‘s future is still “up in the air.” You will hear and read lots of things like, “not sold on him,” “has a ways to go,” or “unsure of what the Bears have in him,” when it comes to the kid.
The truth of the matter is, Trubisky was the perfect pick by Pace and he is going to prove it. Trubisky is an athletic guy who can get out of the pocket and still complete passes accurately and on-time. Remember the 40-plus yard scramble against the Saints last season? Yeah, hardly anybody saw that type of quickness coming when he was drafted out of North Carolina.
Still, he continued to prove people wrong all season long in 2017, and under a coach like Nagy, he’ll continue to do it even more in 2018.
Trubisky isn’t afraid to let it rip in the face of pressure. Not only that, but the guy still gets the ball to where it needs to be — as he should as a no. 2 overall pick!
Not many people saw Pace doing what he did last year in moving up, giving up “too much,” according to plenty of experts. But, as time goes on, everyone will see just how smart it was to do so.
Pace is convicted when he finds “his guy” at any position, and Trubisky is the best overall example of that.
