11. Defensive lineman Da’Ron Payne, Alabama

Some people might not like Da’Ron Payne on the Bears, but he’s too good in certain areas to pass up. Payne is best suited in a 4-3 defense, but with his athleticism, I don’t see why he couldn’t adjust to a 3-4 defensive end.

When you look at Payne, he compares well to a current Bears end, Akiem Hicks. Just a little bit taller is Hicks, at 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 324 pounds. But, Payne, at 6-foot-2, 311 pounds, isn’t far off. He may be a tad slower than Hicks, but he’s shown the ability to rush the passer, and I’d take a flier on him in the late-first.

Payne’s biggest strength is, well, his strength. The kid could bench over 400 pounds in high school, and only got bigger and stronger at Alabama. Payne is absolutely, without a doubt, the best defensive lineman against the run that this draft has to offer. Combine that with a solid pass rushing ability, and Payne becomes very attractive.

Remember, Payne is only an option if the Bears make a trade with a team like the Buffalo Bills, and acquire a second first-round selection. Having already made a pick at this point, Payne would be another one of those luxury type of selections.
