15. Center James Daniels, Iowa

Here at Da Windy City, a few of us have already written about the possibility of the Bears drafting center James Daniels out of Iowa. Where the Bears are slotted at no. 7 in the second round overall, Daniels is definitely a possibility.

What this depends on is a couple of factors.

First, do the Bears address the offensive line at no. 8 overall by selecting Quenton Nelson? If they indeed select Nelson, then consider Daniels’ importance much, much lower on the board. If the Bears go in a different direction than Nelson, then Daniels’ stock will stay where it’s at.

Obviously, in order to grab him with the seventh selection on day two, he needs to be there. Daniels is a guy who has seen his stock rise in the last couple of months, and with the level of incompetence of offensive linemen coming out of college over the last several years, good prospects have been harder to find.

For the Bears to land Daniels, they must still have a need on the offensive line and also have to be 100 percent comfortable moving Cody Whitehair back to guard on a permanent basis. Daniels does have experience playing guard, also, so it could get interesting.

There are a couple of possibilities ahead that Chicago might want a bit more than Daniels, so let’s keep moving along.
