3. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, Virginia Tech

There was a lot of hype regarding Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds about a month ago. It has since died down a bit with other names rising to the top, but let me remind you all what this kid is capable of.

No one gets consistent comparisons to Urlacher and goes completely forgotten by a fan base like the Bears. Just remember all of what you saw on this guy and take a look at the tape.

Edmunds is one of the quickest linebackers in all of this draft class. His footwork is fantastic, allowing him to cover from sideline to sideline in a hurry. Edmunds possesses great coverage skills, making him most suited to play inside linebacker.

Virginia Tech experimented with him a bit as an outside rusher, and that’s where a lot of experts have him pegged to play. But, the risk there is that he is unproven at the position. He belongs in the middle, at least from what you can see with his body of work in college.

Edmunds has said he is comfortable playing both inside and outside, so the Bears would definitely have versatility with him. The way he plays the game, though, no matter what position he’s slotted into, is incredibly contagious.

I would think if Edmunds has been as high as he is on many big boards, mocks and scouts’ rankings, Pace has him up there as well. The other pass rushers are great options, but Edmunds is a tried-and-true linebacker, which is what Chicago needs in the middle.
