Chicago Bears Draft: Pros and cons of Quenton Nelson at no. 8
By Ryan Heckman
Many experts have Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson falling to the Chicago Bears at no. 8 overall in this year’s NFL Draft. Is that a wise pick?
The 2018 NFL Draft is less than two weeks away, and when it comes to the Chicago Bears’ plans, nobody has a clue what they will end up doing. While it may be easier to narrow it down for a team like the Cleveland Browns, the Bears could have a multitude of options fall in their lap on the 26th of April.
One of those options is what some are calling a future All-Pro in Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson. Coming off another stellar season for the Irish, Nelson figures to be a top-10 pick and might end up falling to the Bears by way of quarterback-needy teams going elsewhere with their picks.
Just look around the sports media world and you’ll quickly find that most experts believe Chicago is the perfect spot for Nelson to end up. In fact, many believe he would be a “steal” or a “luxury” for the Bears to have at the eighth selection.
While his tape looks fantastic and without many faults, would Ryan Pace genuinely feel good about using his top draft choice on Nelson? There are a few people who would question the move, although most fans who read into what’s being said about Nelson seem to be on board.
I go a bit more in-depth and try to be honest about the simple facts at hand when it comes to the best offensive lineman in this class. For the most part, he may look like a great pick, but he surely isn’t perfect.
