Chicago Bulls: Intriguing draft lottery outcomes, potential picks and trades
By Ryan Heckman
Could the Bulls swing a draft-day trade to move up and secure the player they most covet?
If everything comes out the way it should in the lottery, and the Bulls end up with a pick between six and eight, they could also end up pulling off a trade on draft day.
Right now, the most likely trade partners would include the Dallas Mavericks at no. 3 or the Atlanta Hawks at no. 4 (assuming the lottery shakes out according to odds). What may make this whole scenario even more interesting is if the Hawks or Mavericks end up with a higher pick than they’re currently slotted for.
Both the Hawks and Mavericks would probably look for a big man in the first round, so why not attempt and deal Robin Lopez and the sixth pick to move up? If they had to throw in a second-rounder or cash, I’d say the Bulls could swing that too. Would Justin Holiday sweeten the deal as well?
If you take a look at the photos posted in the first tweet, prior to the reply, you’ll notice Porter Jr. owns a few Bulls items in his wardrobe. It’s long been obvious that Porter Jr. wants to play in Chicago. I mean, what high school phenom doesn’t envision himself in the black and red, playing on the same court as the greatest basketball player of all-time?

If there was a player worth going up for other than Porter Jr., it’d most likely be Bamba or even Ayton, if he were to fall somehow. This entire scenario depends wholly on how the first couple of picks shake out. But, if the Bulls are convinced they want a player other than Porter Jr. or Bridges, and he’s worth going up and getting, then Paxson and Forman have no choice but to make it happen.
This front office has not impressed fans in recent years, so if they were to pull off a huge move like this, it would surely catch fans’ attention. There is no doubt that Paxson and Forman feel the heat from their fanbase, who has long desired for a competent front office after seeing them botch so many situations in previous years. A draft-day trade might be just what the doctor ordered.
