Arden Key

LSU

Outside linebacker

Ask, among the scouting community, who the real Arden Key is and you will get a lot of different answers. Before the 2017 season, Key was talked about as one of the best edge prospects and a possible top-15 pick. He wasn’t that far off from Chubb, who right now is the consensus number-one edge rush prospect in the draft.

Key’s mysterious leave from the team last spring has raised questions about his love of the game. It didn’t€™ help that when he returned, he suffered a few injuries which hurt his stock even more. Key wasn’t€™ as productive in 2017 as he was in 2016, where he finished with 12 sacks.

Key could see his draft stock tumble as teams will be wary of investing an early round pick on a player that possibly has some motivational issues. If Key is there in the second round, he could be solid value there for the Bears. It would be a risky pick, but it could pay off enormously.

If Key develops back to his 2016 form while also still improving on other weaknesses in his game, he’s a steal for the Bears. The team will be getting a first-round caliber talent in the second round.
