With the 2018 NFL Draft a couple weeks away, the Chicago Bears still have needs to address on the roster. None are greater than another edge rusher to pair with Leonard Floyd.

What are the premium positions a team needs to succeed in the NFL? The first would obviously be a quarterback — one that wins you games, not that you win in spite of. You have to have someone that can make big plays with his arm at any moment and will always put you in contention year-in and year-out.

The second position is someone that can get after the quarterback in an edge rusher.

The Chicago Bears have a lack of proven pass rushers. They released veteran outside linebackers Pernell McPhee and Willie Young. Right now, the Bears’ projected starters at the position are Leonard Floyd and former San Francisco 49er Aaron Lynch.

Floyd is coming off a torn MCL and PCL, but the potential is still there for him to develop into a top-flight pass rusher for the Bears. Floyd was having a pretty good season before the knee injury he suffered late in the season against the Detroit Lions. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has done a fine job taking advantage of Floyd’s speed and athleticism not only as a blitzer, but dropping back into coverage.

Lynch flashed potential in his first two years with the 49ers. Things fell apart when the 49ers changed schemes as well as defensive coordinators. The hope is that Lynch can return to form reuniting with his old coach, Fangio.

Even though the coaching staff has high hopes for the two, I expect a pass rusher to be added via the draft. Here’s a look at some top prospects at the position for the Bears.
