Simmie Cobbs has gone on record saying he’d love to be a Bear. He even has a Bears tattoo; talk about a match made in heaven, huh? The Bears have met with Cobbs twice, both at the combine and in a private workout.
Cobb’s frame at 6-foot-4 would certainly give Mitchell Trubisky a big-bodied target. Fortunately, he has his height to lean on because his vertical wasn’t the most impressive at the combine. The 22-year-old wideout makes up for his leaping ability by simply overpowering corners, especially at the goal line.
Cobbs is very, very good at separating himself from his man inside the 10-yard line. With the creativity of Nagy’s playbook, the Bears are likely to find themselves in the red zone much more than they were last year. Now, all Trubisky needs is as many red zone threats as possible.
Trey Burton, Adam Shaheen and even Tarik Cohen provide some intriguing weapons inside the 20. Cobbs would give the Bears yet another.
