Chicago Bears: 7-round mock draft 3.0 (with trades!)

In the first round, the Bears get a man’s man in edge rusher Marcus Davenport out of the University of Texas San Antonio. There are some intriguing options on the outside this year, but none more than Davenport.
At 6-foot-7, 264 pounds, Davenport possesses a monster frame that any defensive coordinator would love to work with. Pairing him up with Leonard Floyd in the Bears’ pass rush would be downright frightening to opposing quarterbacks.
Davenport is so natural at chasing down a quarterback, that at times he looks slow. In reality, he ran a 4.58 40-yard dash at the combine and is quicker than most linebackers out there, especially with the height that he boasts.
Davenport is coming off a career year for the Roadrunners with 8.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss. He also defended four passes and forced three fumbles.
One of his biggest knocks is his pad level. Well, it is a bit difficult for a 6-foot-7 mammoth to adjust, but my money is on Davenport to do so in the pros. At times, it didn’t even matter due to his raw speed. In the NFL, things will certainly be different.
Davenport gives the Bears an immediate starter opposite of Floyd and makes their pass rush one to be reckoned with. Did I mention he’s from a smaller school? Do you remember who the general manager is in Chicago?
I rest my case.
Davenport goes to the Bears at No. 12 overall as Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins and Matthew Stafford take notice.
