The Chicago Bears are faced with a decision regarding Cameron Meredith, but area also hosting a top wideout prospect this weekend.

Four days ago, Chicago Bears restricted free agent wide receiver Cameron Meredith finally received an offer from another team. The Bears are now faced with a decision that must be made by Wednesday: Match the 2-year, $10 million deal or let Meredith walk?

The Bears’ wide receiver group is much better, at the moment, than it was a year ago. However, it’s not where it needs to be, despite many fans believing the contrary. Allen Robinson was their prized signing this year, and while he is a legitimate number one threat, he is also coming off an ACL tear — like Meredith.

Taylor Gabriel will bring a lot of speed and big-play ability to the team, but isn’t a true number one type of guy — nor am I saying that he needs to be.

Then, you have Kevin White. Most Bears fans love the kid and are pulling for him, although his first three seasons have not looked promising after being riddled with injuries.

Last, and surely least, Joshua Bellamy rounds out the top five wideouts. Mainly a special teams stay, Bellamy has been more known for his drops than anything else on offense.

So, that leaves us with Meredith’s situation, which will be resolved within the next 24 hours or so.

The Bears have definitely done their homework on this year’s draft class and have already met with a few receivers. This weekend, though, they are bringing in one of the top guys for a workout.

I will admit I have always been a fan of Courtland Sutton, and I would love the idea of him on the Bears. But, is he a better fit than Meredith? Let’s take a quick look at both guys.
