9. Linebacker Jonathan Bostic, Florida

I remember watching the Bears select Jonathan Bostic out of Florida and thinking, “Oh yeah. We just snagged the next great Chicago Bears linebacker. What a pick.”

Boy, was I wrong.

Bostic was coming out of a Florida Gators program who had a solid crop of defenders, and he was their captain. He was a leader. Everything you heard about Bostic made you love him even more, before you ever saw him on the field.

But, when he finally got on the field for the Bears, he just looked a step behind no matter what. I felt bad for the guy, honestly. As a second round pick in 2013, Bostic came in with most people under the assumption that he would take over the middle linebacker role for years to come.

Heck, he was still supposed to be here as we speak — but, it didn’t work out that way. Bostic never seemed to be in the right place at the right time, except for one rare, ridiculous occasion — and it was preseason.

I remember watching that hit as it happened thinking, “This kid is for real!” It was far worse from the view above. I didn’t think Willie was going to get up.

Oh, what fun that was while it lasted.

Bostic spent just two years with the Bears before being traded to the New England Patriots in 2015. Most recently, he spent last year with the Indianapolis Colts and now plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
