The Chicago Blackhawks are keeping their main leadership roles intact. This is a great decision for a franchise full of much consistency under these two.

It was a rough season. It was unfamiliar territory for many of these players. The Chicago Blackhawks had been to the postseason nine straight years before their disappointing 2017-2018 campaign. With just a couple of games to go, the Blackhawks can hold onto one last major positive.

Last night, they took on the St. Louis Blues in a game that their opponent needed to win in order to have a shot at the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Entering the 3rd period, the Blackhawks were down by a score of 3-1 and came back to beat one of their bitter rivals, knocking them out of contention.

With a positive circumstance unfolding for once, the Blackhawks could revel in their victory. However, as the season comes to a close, there are two decisions that have been in question for a while now.

Those decisions have since been made, putting many fans and players at rest.

Blackhawks president John McDonough spoke to the media regarding his decisions and had this to say, via The Chicago Sun Times.

"“I believe in continuity [and] they’ve had an incredible body of success. We’re not tethered to the past. This has been a very disappointing year and our expectations are incredibly high. We’re not going to deviate from those expectations. But I believe both Stan and Joel are the guys that are going to bring this back.”"

With Quenneville and Bowman returning, the Blackhawks maintain continuity, for one, within an organization that not only has high expectations but understands the unacceptability of a season like they have put together this year.

Having a core including both Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, these guys have to believe they’ve always got a chance. Do they have some roster issues elsewhere? Absolutely. Is goalie a set-in-stone position? Some may not think so.

But, what we do know going forward, is that the leadership remains the same. This is great news for the organization, players and fans overall.
