Michael Kopech
In terms of star potential, Michael Kopech isn’t far behind Jimenez. If he’s behind at all.
Kopech (No. 10 prospect in MLB) and his100 mph-plus fastball have had scouts drooling for some time now. The question has never been if he will make it to the big leagues, but rather when.
When he was acquired in December 2016 in the deal that sent Chris Sale to the Boston Red Sox, he actually wasn’t the headliner. That title belonged to Moncada. But those in the know understood what the Chicago White Sox were getting.

There has been some speculation recently that Kopech may be better suited for the closer role, but Hahn’s comments to the Chicago Tribune suggest that he doesn’t see it that way.
"“Not in my mind,” Hahn said. “He could probably play a big role in a bullpen today, but frankly we see more value in a starter role, throwing 200 innings per year as opposed to 60 or 70.”"
Much like Jimenez, Hahn would love for Kopech to refine his craft in the minors this season, but realizes that may not be the case.
Michael Kopech wants to pitch in the majors in 2018. Rick Hahn pointed to Kopech as a player exceeding expectations thus far. “The good ones have a way of creating pleasant problems for you.”

Last season in stops at AA Birmingham and AAA Charlotte, Kopech finished with 172 strikeouts in just over 134 innings and a combined 2.88 ERA. If he continues that dominance this season, he will be throwing at G-Rate field sooner than later.
