The Chicago White Sox head into the 2018 season with the primary focus being the development of the young talent. At the same time, they fully plan to be competitive on the field as well.

With an Opening Day roster that featured just two position players over the age of 30, the Chicago White Sox will be relying on youth to carry them throughout the season.

And that is exactly how they want it.

Jose Abreu (31) and Welington Castillo (soon to be 31) will be the veterans in the lineup for the South Siders in 2018. Abreu has been the undisputed leader of this team since he came into the league in 2014 and will continue to be that guy this season.

The remainder of the lineup will be filled with young guys (Avisail Garcia, Yolmer Sanchez, Tim Anderson, Matt Davidson) that have multiple years of experience, but that are still trying to prove themselves. And guys (Nicky Delmonico, Adam Engel, Yoan Moncada) who are still getting used to playing at the big league level.

The expectation is that the youth movement will continue with more prospects being called up throughout the season.

And though it’s not a certainty, here’s a look at three prospects that fans will likely see on the South Side this summer.
