Chicago Bears: 5 draft day trades that make sense
By Ryan Heckman
The Arizona Cardinals could absolutely be in the market for a rookie quarterback.
If the idea of Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon doesn’t excite you, chances are you’re either an Arizona Cardinals fan or just plain level-headed. The Cardinals went out and signed both quarterbacks as their starter and backup, respectively.
But, could they end up trading up in order to draft a quarterback of the future? Bradford only signed a one-year deal and Glennon’s deal is cheap enough where the Cardinals could get out if they really wanted to cut their losses.
In this scenario, the Cardinals would trade up to the eighth spot by swapping first-rounders as well as sending the Bears their second-round choice at number 47 overall. The Cardinals could then wind up with one of the top-4 passers in this year’s draft, which was never out of the question after signing Bradford.
Chicago moves back seven spots, still being able to snag someone like edge rusher Harold Landry or cornerback Josh Jackson at 15th overall. Landry’s stock has been rising and is someone many are starting to like more and more as the draft inches closer. Jackson, meanwhile, would give Chicago incredible depth at corner.
They also will have two picks in the second at that point at number 39 and 47 overall, which would give them a shot to grab a guy like Will Hernandez early on during day two while having their eyes on another prospect just eight picks later.
