Chicago Bulls: Looking at 5 potential offseason moves
By Ryan Heckman
Julius Randle would be a welcomed addition in Chicago.
I have a feeling this summer is going to be a big one for Julius Randle. Once regarded as one of the top players in the nation coming out of high school and a former seventh overall pick back in 2014, Randle has finally come into his own and has played his best basketball as a pro this season.
As a rookie, we all remember his season was cut short just one game into the year. But, he came back his second season and averaged a double-double, proving he was worthy of a top-10 pick and that he could bounce back from a severe injury.
This year, he may not be averaging a double-double (currently at 8.0 rebounds per game), but he’s showing much more efficiency overall. Randle is by far and away shooting better than he has in any of his time in the NBA, well up over 56 percent now on the year. He’s averaging a career-best 16.2 points per game.

Randle has really blossomed into a great pro, and at only 23 years old, has even more untapped potential waiting to bust loose. He is an exciting and athletically-built young big man who, I’m sure, would have some fun playing with a guy like Bobby Portis. Imagine the fireworks they could stir up on the court together.
The way the Bulls are built right now, with young guys who are versatile, Randle would fit right in. Not to mention, he can do this.
I am sure Randle will be one of the hotter tickets this summer, but not quite on the level of the superstars who could opt-out and choose to become free agents.
The Lakers do have an advantage here, as Randle is restricted. But, again, could they have their eyes set higher on an elite name or two? Los Angeles has been rumored to be in the running for a handful of stars over the last couple of seasons, so letting Randle walk might be in the cards, financially.

If he does end up leaving, I would sure love Chicago to be his preferred destination.
