Chicago Bulls: Looking at 5 potential offseason moves
By Ryan Heckman
Noah Vonleh should not be a part of the Bulls’ future plans.
At just 22 years old, Noah Vonleh has plenty of room to grow. But, after his short stint with the Bulls, I don’t want to see if it does end up happening on this roster.
The former first-round pick out of Indiana has given the Bulls some juice off the bench at times this year, to which I’m grateful for. However, his entire body of work could use some … well, work.
Vonleh has proven to be a very strong rebounder, I will give him that much credit. In just short of 16 minutes per game, he’s averaging 5.6 rebounds. Honestly, that’s remarkable for a kid who doesn’t see the floor too often.
On the flip side of things, Vonleh hasn’t been much of an asset elsewhere. To sum up the play I’ve witnessed overall, he has seemed a bit clueless. There have been times I’ve seen him battle his own teammates for rebounds to the point where I have to wonder if he’s paying any attention to what’s going on — it hasn’t been a one-time thing.
His defense is questionable at moments and he quite honestly doesn’t have much of an offensive game. In his last 10 outings with the Bulls, he’s shooting under 40 percent. He has been a “see what you get with more minutes” kind of guy during his time with Chicago. Having played 24 minutes per game over those last 10, he’s shown me less than what I would have liked to see.
He will land on his feet elsewhere this summer, but the Bulls should not be one of the teams to make him an offer. He still seems like a project even after nearly four seasons in the NBA.
