2. Avisail Garcia, Nicky Delmonico take a step back from 2017

Avisail Garcia‘s breakout 2017 was one of the biggest bright spots for the Chicago White Sox last season.

The 26 year-old right fielder hit .330 with 18 home runs and 80 RBIs, earning his first career All-Star selection.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Avisail Garcia is going to continue to produce on the South Side.

But asking for another .330 season is a little out there. Asking for another season hitting over .300 for a guy whose career batting average is .277 is a little crazy.

Again, Avisail Garcia should still have a solid 2018 season, but I would by no means expect him to come close to his numbers from last season.

Nicky Delmonico made his MLB debut last August, and burst onto the scene with a .307 average in his first month in the big leagues.

The outfielder struggled to a .212 average in September, finally finishing the season with a .262 average with nine home runs and 23 RBIs.

Delmonico’s numbers don’t exactly jump off the screen, but his first month was enough to get large numbers of White Sox fans on his bandwagon.

Like with Garcia, Delmonico should still put up solid numbers in 2018. I just believe that Nicky Delmonico’s 2018 season will be more like September of last season than August of last season.

Two months is certainly not enough time to judge a major-league hitter. But, Delmonico’s inconsistency doesn’t make for a good full season.
