With the recent news of the New York Giants listening to trade offers for their superstar wideout, should the Chicago Bears make an offer?

The Chicago Bears have been making some impressive moves over the last few weeks. The New York Giants, meanwhile, have been rumored to potentially make a move of their own — an enormous one.

The New York Giants have come out and said that they aren’t “shopping” star wideout Odell Beckham Jr., although they are “listening to offers.” This all started when Beckham, of course, said he wouldn’t step on the field this season without a new contract.

So, this leads me to a question: Should the Bears pursue a trade for Beckham?

There are a few gigantic factors here. First, let’s establish the obvious.

Beckham is a freak. He is nearly unmatched when it comes to athleticism and big play ability. Thinking about he, Allen Robinson, Tarik Cohen, Taylor Gabriel and of course Jordan Howard all within the same offense is a ridiculous thought.

Matt Nagy would have some fun with Beckham, I’m sure, and the Bears would put up a lot more points with him than they would without him. It’s pretty simple.

Now, let’s look at the other side of things. Beckham was recently seen in a video next to a woman who appeared to be doing some heavy drugs. Was Beckham partaking? We’re not sure. But, what we do know is this: The company he keeps says a lot about his character.

Speaking of character, I think we all know by now what kind of guy we’re talking about. We all saw the game against Josh Norman a couple seasons ago where Beckham turned into an animal on the field. He couldn’t control himself and made himself out to be the biggest fool in all of football that day.

Beckham is a notorious hothead. He brings a different level of antics than the Bears were even used to with a guy like Brandon Marshall.

If Ryan Pace has been doing a great job of bringing in high character players and building a locker room full of good men, why would he take a chance on Beckham?

I have one answer for that: Only if the price was right.

Would Pace give up two first-round picks? Absolutely not. I have a hard time believing he’d do that. But, would he entertain the idea of possibly trading a first and a fourth? I think he would give that some thought.

The question is, still, is he worth the picks and everything that follows him to Chicago? That’s the biggie.
