The Chicago Bears haven’t rocked the orange in seven years, but in 2018, it looks like that will change.

If you are like me, you own a Chicago Bears jersey in the old alternate orange shade. If you are also like me, you loved watching the team walk out onto Soldier Field donning the overpowering, bright orange look. It was a classic — a classic that hasn’t been seen on-field since 2011.

Just a few days ago, Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks made it known via his Twitter account that he would love for the organization to bring back the orange alternate jerseys.

It was an ongoing debate among Bears fans and, believe it or not, someone even started a petition to bring them back. Well, it didn’t take long for the Bears to hear both Hicks and the fans out on that.

Some of my best Bears memories came from when the Bears were in their orange alternates. Back when offense was at a premium for the Bears, and defense was their mantra, they made some unforgettable plays whilst in those uniforms.

Nathan Vasher made history on that play against the 49ers, returning the missed field goal attempt 108 yards to the house.

Who could forget the vicious attack on Lions wideout Calvin Johnson, followed by the Brian Urlacher scoop?

How about a two-touchdown day for the Bears’ second-all-time leading rusher, Matt Forte?

How would I be doing the Bears’ orange jerseys any justice if I left out Mr. “Peanut Punch” himself? Check out all of the highlights below if you’d like, or fast-forward to 0:53 to see the beautiful, diving interception by Charles Tillman which he returned for a touchdown against the Cleveland Browns.

Funny enough, immediately following that play is yet another Tillman touchdown in the orange.

It’s probably a good thing the Bears are bringing these back. Like I said, some of my favorite memories watching the Bears were in these uniforms. It just seems as though good things happen when they are in orange!

It is unclear yet which week this season the Bears will bring them out, but I am sure it will be announced in the coming weeks. We’ll let you know when we find out!
