Chicago Bears: Profile and Interview of Draft Target WR Vyncint Smith
Strengths
First off, Smithis fast. And I don’t just mean “40-yard dash fast.” I’m talking about a guy who puts on the pads and blows by his defender even when he knows the “go route” is coming.
This is evident from the video below. This ability to take the top off a defense is exactly what Matt Nagy’s offense looks for. He would pair perfectly with Allen Robinson in certain packages and give the Chicago Bears two legitimate deep threats.
Second, he has a knack for finding and coming down with the football.
What stood out to me while watching him is how well he adjusted to the ball. Even when the ball was underthrown or off target, his ability to adjust to the flight path and beat out the defender for those “one-on-one” balls is impressive.
Finally, Smith is a hard worker who would bring an incredible work ethic to wherever he lands.
Despite being snubbed by his hometown school, Smith persevered and continued to chase his dream. Moreover, when an opportunity to transfer to the University of South Carolina as a walk-on fell through, he did not quit. Instead, he continued to pursue his dream. And now he finds himself on the cusp of achieving it.
