Chicago Bears: Mocking picks 1-8 of 2018 NFL Draft
By Ryan Heckman
The Indianapolis Colts trade back with the Buffalo Bills so that they could indeed snag their future franchise quarterback.
The Colts know they won’t be taking a quarterback early in this year’s draft, simply because they already boast their own franchise quarterback in Andrew Luck — assuming he comes back healthy. The Buffalo Bills, meanwhile, aren’t afforded the same luxury in terms of their quarterback situation.
After hauling a massive stockpile of picks from the Jets trade, the Colts know they’ll have plenty of early selections, especially in round two.
Buffalo currently sits at the number 12 spot while also holding the number 22 overall pick. This is where they trade either both of those picks or a combination of their 12th selection and further picks to move up to number six in place of the Colts.
For the Colts, this makes a lot of sense. Barkley is already off the board and there are still a lot of suitable stars on the big board for them to take a few picks later. For Buffalo, they get Josh Rosen out of UCLA who is looked at as being potentially the quarterback of the future for them.
The Bears again benefit here by seeing another quarterback drop off the board, knowing very well who they could see fall to them at eight, just one short pick away.
