Chicago Bears Free Agency: 7 potential second wave value signings
By Ryan Heckman
T Cameron Fleming
With the Bears releasing veteran guard Josh Sitton and not necessarily set at the tackle position, it will be interesting to see what they do on the offensive line front in the coming days.
Kyle Long is locked in at guard. Charles Leno Jr. is coming off of a multi-year extension last season and should be locked in at left tackle based on Pace’s faith in him. Cody Whitehair is as versatile as they come and can play both guard and center. Wherever they line up Whitehair, there will be a void at one of those two positions.
At the other tackle spot is Bobby Massie, who is no where near what the Bears need at the position. It would be ideal if Massie was given some serious competition during camp that would either push him to improve or push him out of the starting right tackle position.
Former New England Patriots tackle Cameron Fleming has started 20 games in his four years with the team. Most notably, Fleming started in the Super Bowl this year and played up to snuff.
The former Stanford product is only 25 years old and will be 26 by the time the season rolls around. At the moment, rumor has it that the Patriots would like to bring him back. He did visit the Dallas Cowboys this week, but nothing official has come of that.
Depending on where he and his agent think his market lies, Fleming might be an option for Pace and the Bears. If he doesn’t end up commanding starter money, which again is up in the air, he would give the Bears some solid depth if anything.
