Chicago Bears Free Agency: 7 potential second wave value signings
By Ryan Heckman
Having impressed over the course of the first wave of free agency, the Chicago Bears will look to add value during the second wave.
Ryan Pace has done more over the course of the last week and a half to improve this football team than he has over all three free agency periods during his tenure with the Chicago Bears. Sure, he’s hit on a few players over the years, but for the most part his new additions have been modest to poor overall.
Allen Robinson was the star of the show last week. The former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver seemed as though Chicago was always his first option, and Bears fans are happy to have him. Pace added a few more young contributors who will improve particularly the offense, as well as bringing in another pass rusher in Aaron Lynch.
Taylor Gabriel, Trey Burton and Cody Parkey will all have immediate impacts on the Bears’ ability to score points. Pace came out firing and found guys who met the needs at hand, especially seeing how they will fit in under Matt Nagy’s system.
As the Bears head into the second wave of free agency, known as the value period, there are several names out there who could add depth at positions of need. I take a look at seven players in particular who, for varying reasons, may come to the Bears as a value.
Already noted, the Bears still have a decent amount of money to spend even after taking into consideration the future draft picks in April. Pace has set the team up nicely to add even more talent in the coming days. Let’s take a look at some potential fits.
