Chicago Bears: Top 25 players in franchise history
By Ryan Heckman
22. C Olin Kreutz
Olin Kreutz is one of my all-time favorite Bears. He is arguably the best center in franchise history and without a doubt, one of the toughest and most loyal teammates the Bears have ever seen.
The Bears were home to Kreutz from 1998-2010 before he spent his last season — well, some of it — as a pro with the New Orleans Saints. Kreutz retired at the age of 33, noting that he had simply lost passion for the game.
When he was with the Bears, though, Kreutz was as nasty as they came up front. He spent many years on some poor teams and was arguably the best player on the roster.
Kreutz made it to six consecutive Pro Bowls from 2001 to 2006, while also making the NFL’s First Team All-Pro in 2006. He was voted to the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 2000’s.
The Hawaiian native and former Washington standout started 183 games for the Bears during his time in Chicago and was one of the key “glue guys” up front. Kreutz was arguably the best center in the game during his time with the Bears and they haven’t been able to find someone even remotely close to his talent level since losing him eight years ago.
