Chicago Bulls: 5 players to watch in the NCAA Tournament
By Ryan Heckman
Miles Bridges, Small Forward, Michigan State Spartans
Miles Bridges might just be one of my favorite prospects in this year’s NBA draft class. The Michigan State standout is a guy who could go anywhere in the top 15, but I firmly believe he should be a top-8 pick.
Bridges had a heck of a regular season this year, averaging 16.9 points. 6.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists for the Spartans.
At 6’7″ he has given Michigan State a lot of versatility. Bridges has played anywhere from shooting guard to power forward at different moments on the floor. The question, heading into the NBA, is where exactly he belongs position-wise.
In the pros, he would be too small to play power forward. While he is a solid 230 pounds, Bridges likely wouldn’t fit well at the four spot. He does have the ability to create offense for his teammates and shoot on the move, making him much more attractive at the wing position.
Bridges would give the Bulls another win opposite of Zach LaVine who can move well and score in multiple ways. The biggest question for Bridges is whether or not he can be an offensive focal point, and the answer to that question is a “no” from most experts.
While that’s not the deal-breaker, it is a reason why Bridges is likely to fall out of the top seven or eight in the draft. But, for what the Bulls are looking for and the style of basketball they play under Hoiberg, Bridges could fit the mold.
