Even before signing with the Chicago Bears, Allen Robinson seemed destined for the Windy City.

Allen Robinson is a member of the Chicago Bears. How surreal does that sound to all the fans out there? I can tell you this: To Robinson, himself, it doesn’t seem that surreal at all. In fact, I would go so far as to say he had long desired to play for the Bears.

He couldn’t hold in his excitement, either, on Tuesday.

Why wouldn’t he already have a custom-made Chicago Bulls jersey with his name and number? Oh, that’s right, the Bears were his choice all along — that’s the story I’m rolling with.

Sure, people had their doubts even after Robinson posted a photo of him in a Cubs jersey just a couple of weeks ago. It was easy to downplay such a move by the 24-year-old — but, remember, he’s 24 years old. Social media is his game. It’s how everybody that age communicates their thoughts and feelings. So, it seemed only fitting that he would give us a hint.

Tuesday, after his decision was announced to join the Bears, even the official NFL Twitter account had something put together awfully quick — did they know something ahead of time as well? Of course, Robinson saw it and immediately retweeted the short graphic.

Wednesday, Robinson took to Twitter yet again to express his gratitude and excitement about being a Bear. Again, I hate to beat a dead horse, but it seems like this was long in the making and no other team even had a shot to land him.

It is worth noting Robinson is being paid to play football, not to win spelling bees. In any event, Robinson immediately makes the Bears offense exponentially better. One of the happiest people on the planet yesterday was undoubtedly quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Not only did he get his true number one target, but the Bears also brought in a couple more weapons for him.

Along with Robinson, the Bears agreed with tight end Trey Burton and speedster Taylor Gabriel. Trubisky should be licking his chops when thinking about the damage Chicago could do offensively next year, and it all started with Robinson.
