Chicago Bears: Ranking Ryan Pace’s top 5 worst free agency signings
By Ryan Heckman
Ryan Pace and the Chicago Bears have experienced some awful free agent signings over the course of the last three years. Check out the worst of the worst.
The Chicago Bears are a team looking to build on a few young pieces they have in place. A year ago, the team drafted Mitchell Trubisky as what they hope will be their franchise quarterback for years to come. General manager Ryan Pace also snagged a couple more playmakers later in the draft, picking Tarik Cohen and Eddie Jackson who had an immediate impact on the team.
While Pace has done an adequate job in the draft, for the most part, his big misses have mainly been in March. Over the course of his tenure in Chicago, Pace has had a handful of satisfactory free agent signings; some, even excellent, like Akiem Hicks.
But, it hasn’t necessarily gone according to plan when it comes to what fans have had in mind. We have yet to see a major splash signing for the Bears, under Pace, and can only hope that 2018 is the year that changes.
Since the free agency frenzy is about to begin, I thought it would be appropriate to take a look back on some of the worst signings over the last three years. These are all guys Pace seemed to believe in for one reason or another, but ended up going down as his worst decisions as general manager.
