Chicago Bears: Post-Combine/Pre-Free Agency Mock Draft
Pre-combine pick: Jack Cichy, LB
With Kyle Fuller presumably back in the saddle and Denzel Ward taken at 8th overall, it wouldn’t exactly hurt the Bears to stockpile some extra bodies in the secondary. With the way this team has racked up injuries in the past, having quality depth at corner and safety is never a bad thing.
As such, with Marcus Cooper being a likely cap casualty, taking a flier on Brandon Facyson likely wouldn’t hurt.
The former Hokie’s best assets might be his size (6’2″) and speed (4.53 in the 40) combination. Odds are he wouldn’t be asked to start Week 1 or even play significant snaps.
He can be beaten by some more explosive receivers at times. And more importantly, his ball skills aren’t exactly worth writing home about.
Special teams will be where Facyson starts his career.
Should he adapt and adjust to the speed of the NFL, he probably could carve out some snaps on defense in the future. Taking a dart throw on a guy like this is a safe bet because if he lands in the right situation, he can become a future weekly contributor for a team in need of them (such as the Bears).
