Chicago Bears Free Agency: Day one recap, Allen Robinson deal, latest rumors
By Ryan Heckman
The Bills made a significant trade Monday that affects the Bears directly in this year’s draft.
What we know: Buffalo moved up to the number 12 overall pick in a trade with the Bengals.
What we think we know: The Bears should have their pick between three of the top non-quarterbacks at number eight overall.
So, Buffalo makes yet another move. Just days after dealing quarterback Tyrod Taylor to the Browns, they make a trade with the Bengals to move up in this year’s draft.
The Bills obviously want to get their hands on a quarterback, and are not done making moves just yet. It is likely they will move up into the top five in order to do so, giving the Bears an even better chance at landing one of the top five overall players in this year’s class.
If the Browns, Jets, Broncos and Bills all select quarterbacks with Saquon Barkley also going in the top five, the Bears should have their pick between guard Quenton Nelson, edge rusher Bradley Chubb or safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
It is likely the Bears would go with Nelson or Chubb at this point, which would be an enormous victory for Pace — and he didn’t even have to make a trade himself!
Monday was an eventful day for the Bears, even though there was a lack of any breaking news. After all, Wednesday is the day we should be celebrating if it all goes according to plan.
