Chicago Bears Free Agency: Day one recap, Allen Robinson deal, latest rumors
By Ryan Heckman
It is clear the Trubisky effect has taken over Halas Hall.
What we know: The Bears are in the mix for Jimmy Graham.
What we don’t know: How strong is the mutual interest between Graham and his former team?
While acquiring Jimmy Graham four years ago may have been a dream of mine, now I’m not so sure. Sure, last year he scored 10 touchdowns. But, he didn’t seem like the same guy we saw light it up in New Orleans.
Speaking of which, the Saints are reportedly interested in bringing back their old friend. If Drew Brees is retained, which is all but certain at this point, Graham’s reunion in New Orleans seems more likely at this point.
But, you have to give Pace credit for the aggressive nature thus far.
If the Bears don’t end up with Graham, it’s likely they could land Austin Sefarian-Jenkins to pair with Adam Shaheen. This would give Trubisky two very large, tall tight ends to target in the red zone. I wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to that.
Regardless of what happens with Graham, Pace is obviously attempting to make up for three lackluster performances in free agency by going after some of the biggest names out there.
