Chicago Bears Free Agency: Day one recap, Allen Robinson deal, latest rumors
By Ryan Heckman
Update: Allen Robinson intends on signing with the Bears on a 3-year, $42 million deal.
You may continue reading the current slide if you’d like, but I’d understand if you simply just wanted to scream for joy and skip to the next — I promise, no hard feelings.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said on Monday that the “Bears are very interested in Allen Robinson.”
As short and sweet as it might be, Rapoport is one of the very few guys who is as tuned into the league as one could possibly be. If he says something, it is factual — no questions asked. As for other folks, it seems to be a foregone conclusion that Pace is ready to spend on his guy.
What’s intriguing about Robinson’s impending decision is that he is said to factor in quarterback as one of his top desires in a destination. Will it be Mitchell Trubisky?
The scary thing, here, is that the Packers are also rumored to be involved in the Robinson sweepstakes. If that holds any weight, which I doubt it does, then you would have to think playing with Aaron Rodgers takes the cake.
Like I said, I highly doubt the rumor regarding Green Bay holds enough wait to merit worrying over. They have a lot more pertinent holes to fill than wide receiver.
If Pace comes out and lands Robinson, expect that to only be the beginning.
