Trade down from No. 8

More and more, this is starting to look like a likely, and potentially awesome, option. And a few teams could potentially make this happen by potentially trading up for a quarterback.

The Arizona Cardinals, who hold the No. 15-overall pick, probably don’t want to go into next season with Drew Stanton as their starter. But if they don’t get Kirk Cousins, they’ll be in a tough spot as Miami lurks at No. 11 with a possible desire to move on from Ryan Tannehill. Leapfrogging them would be their shot to grab Baker Mayfield or Josh Allen, assuming one of them fell.

Calvin Ridley, Roquan Smith or Josh Jackson would be excellent values at No. 15 overall. At least one of them will probably end up there.

But the team that would really be an incredible trade partner for the Chicago Bears? The Buffalo Bills.

If you remember, the Bills just traded Tyrod Taylor away to the Browns yesterday along with half the league. That leaves them with Nathan Peterman at quarterback. Yikes.

Fortunately for Buffalo, they have two picks in each of the first three rounds as well as the fifth round in 2018. That’s more than enough to sweeten the pot for the Bears to trade down. And if they did, just think of the embarrassment of riches Chicago could stockpile with a haul like this.

If they got both first-rounders, they could possibly pull off a receiver like Courtland Sutton and a corner like Isaiah Oliver.

And if they nabbed the two second-rounders instead, maybe you grab a DJ Moore or DJ Chark in the second with an edge rusher prospect like Josh Sweat.

Bottom line: this draft is so deep with talent that the Bears could get incredible bang for their buck with a trade down.

And assuming they hit on their free agent needs, collecting more starter-level talent could turn this team around more quickly than taking a stab at someone they might not absolutely love at No. 8 overall.
