5. Prince Amukamara

If you have followed any of my work recently, you know that I am all for familiarity. Sometimes, that takes precedent over skillset simply because, under the right coaching, a player can hone the skills necessary to fit into a select scheme.

Prince Amukamara actually had a solid year for the Bears. Many weren’t 100 percent sold on the idea of him coming in and starting for the Bears last year, especially because his 2016 campaign in Jacksonville was nothing spectacular. But, Amukamara gelled nicely with Fangio’s defense and put together a very good year in 2017.

Is he a top corner available? Potentially, yes.

Once again, he is aware of the system being run in Chicago. Amukamara would not have to learn a new playbook or get acclimated with his teammates, as that’s already been established.

When it comes to the secondary, there are a lot of mistakes that can happen due to communication. The chemistry having already been cemented between he and Fuller makes Amukamara an attractive option to bring back.

Quarterbacks threw his way less as the year went on, because of his solid play. Amukamara will likely command less money than guys like Trumaine Johnson or the already-signed Richard Sherman, and his ability to come in immediately and know the scheme can’t be overstated.
