Richard Sherman is officially being let go from the Seattle Seahawks on Friday, and the Chicago Bears are already looking to get in the mix.

While the Seahawks are now done with veteran cornerback Richard Sherman, the Chicago Bears may be gearing up to add him to the roster. According to John Mullin of NBC Chicago, the Bears are one of the teams in the mix for Sherman’s services.

Sherman is coming off an Achilles injury that ended his 2017 nine games in, but the name he has established is one that certainly will draw attention in free agency.

Sherman ranks first among all cornerbacks in interceptions since entering the league, so his ball-hawking type of personality on the field would surely boost a defense that lacked takeaways a year ago.

One interesting tidbit to note is that Sherman indeed has a connection to Chicago.

The Bears may be even more thankful than they were before that they were able to retain defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Under his leadership, the Bears improved to the number 10 overall defense in 2017.

Already giving the transition tag to Kyle Fuller with the ability to match any offer that comes his way, their cornerback tandem would be greatly strengthened by adding a player of Sherman’s caliber.

I have already noted quite a few reasons the Bears should go after Sherman. While his attitude may come off as a distraction at times, he is undoubtedly still a top cornerback in the league. He is absolutely worth pursuing if this defense wants to continue and improve in 2018.

I have seen many opinions stating that Sherman doesn’t have the same type of talent he once had. Well, the proof is right above if you need it.

Ryan Pace should be aggressively ready to pursue Sherman when the time comes, and it looks like that’s exactly what he is planning to do.
