5. CB Terrance Mitchell

Terrance Mitchell is entering his fifth year in the NFL after being drafted as a seventh round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2014. The former Oregon Duck is just 25 years old and spent the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Many might not remember this, but Mitchell was a Bear back in 2015 and appeared in five games, which was his first game action as a pro.

Last season, Mitchell was slid into the starting spot opposite of Marcus Peters and played 15 games for the Chiefs. In 2016, Mitchell played in a total of seven games. He definitely had his share of struggles, but also had some very bright moments as a Chief.

With a career that has been fairly inconsistent thus fair, it’s probably a longshot that he is signed by the Bears this offseason. But, I wouldn’t put it past Pace to at least take a look. Mitchell would definitely come cheaper than most at his position and could potentially provide some depth. Having experience as a starter certainly helps.

As I said before, though, Mitchell is a risky play at times.

Ouch, that was not one of those shining moments for Mitchell last season.

Mitchell, while wildly inconsistent, did pick off four passes last season while defending 17 more. He certainly showed more of a knack for the ball in 2017 than he had in his previous three years. One would have to wonder if Fangio could further develop him into an even better player with the talent the Bears have built on that side of the ball.

Again, Mitchell brings familiarity. A relationship with the new head coach will definitely always help in a free agency situation. We’ll see if Nagy convinces Pace to sit down with Mitchell in the near future.
