3. CB Denzel Ward, Ohio State Buckeyes

With Fuller being as physical and challenging of a corner as he is, Denzel Ward would give the Bears a totally different look and it could very well pay off. Ward showed us all at the combine that he certainly is up for debate among the best athletes in this year’s class.

Ward ran his 40-yard dash in a blazing time of 4.32 which was tied for the best time all weekend long.

Ward’s 39-inch vertical paired with his 40 time will most definitely turn some heads.

Having to wait his turn to start with the Buckeyes after former teammates Marshon Lattimore and Gareon Conley heard their name called in the first round of last year’s draft, Ward proved he was just as valuable as his predecessors.

In 2017, Ward finished as a first-team All-American and All-Conference. He boasted the fourth-lowest catch rate (35.1) in the nation when quarterbacks targeted him, out of all corners with 50 or more targets.

The most impressive thing about Ward, other than the ridiculous athletic ability, is his knack for staying with wide receivers during routes. His footwork is impeccable, being able to match wideouts stride for stride in all kinds of routes.

Take away his athleticism and supreme man coverage talent, and what do you have? Well, he would likely argue quite a bit.

Yes, Fuller would not be the only one bringing physicality at the position. While he gets more accolades for his quickness and agility, Ward certainly isn’t afraid to make a tackle in the open field.

Pairing Ward with Fuller would be just dandy in my book. He’s a guy that will translate to the pros without question.
