The NFL word was rocked Wednesday afternoon with news that Richard Sherman was saying his goodbyes in Seattle. The Chicago Bears need to jump right into the conversation once he hits the market.

A week before the 2018 NFL Free Agency period officially begins, things are already beginning to get a little crazy, especially if you’re a Seattle Seahawks fan. Fortunately for the Chicago Bears and their fanbase, the craziness could end up benefitting the navy and orange.

Wednesday afternoon, Ian Rapoport broke yet another bombshell of a story during what has been an entertaining offseason, to say the least.

If you read the tweet carefully, you might just mistake his intent when using the word “bears.” I get it, you’re excited.

So am I.

In all honesty, Ryan Pace should be making the call immediately upon hearing Sherman has been cut loose. The Seahawks are reportedly revamping their entire defense in order to save some money. They also, according to many of the rumors out there, wish to “quiet things down” a bit.

In order to do so, they began by trading defensive end Michael Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday. It appears as though that trade was just the beginning of an avalanche in Seattle.

Could the days of dominance be over for the Seahawks? Well, judging by last season and the moves being made as we speak, it’s been in the works for a while. The “Legion of Boom” no longer exists, and it could be to the Bears’ benefit after all.

Sherman’s impending release will save the Seahawks around $11 million as they enter free agency next week. He was coming off a 2017 season in which he missed seven games due to an achilles injury.

If and when Sherman’s release comes, the Bears have several reasons to pursue him. Here are just five to ponder over.
