Simply put, there’s just a ridiculous amount of talent in this year’s linebacker class.

Watching them run, jump and generally fly around basically made me forget any and all notions of picking an offensive player at No. 8 outside of Quenton Nelson.

Nope. The best player at that spot will likely be a linebacker, and Tremaine Edmunds would probably be my pick as of now.

But even if the Chicago Bears go linebacker in the first round, don’t think they won’t go back to the well in the second. And a guy like Carter could very well convince them to do it.

He never quite blew things up at Georgia as much as he hoped, but he sure torched the NFL Combine.

In addition to his crazy measurables, Carter’s explosiveness blew the top off of Lucas Oil Stadium. 4.5 in the 40-yard dash? This man is running stride-for-stride with same safeties, corners and receivers. And boy, can he jump (36-inch vertical, 130-inch broad).

You want twitchy athleticism and length? You got it, Ryan Pace.

In many ways, he holds a similar profile and play style to old teammate Leonard Floyd. That’s why Georgia played him seemingly everywhere last year.

If you like Floyd, I’m not sure why you won’t love him.

Personally, I’m loving the idea of two gangly, freakish Georgia edge rushers on the field at the same time. Maybe that needs to happen…
