Chicago Bears: Matt Forte will indeed retire a Bear
By Ryan Heckman
After recently announcing his retirement from the NFL, Matt Forte will sign a one day contract with the Chicago Bears and do it the right way.
Jordan Howard has taken the reigns as the next great Chicago Bears running back, but fans will never forget a guy like Matt Forte. Just a few days ago, Forte announced he was retiring from the NFL after 10 seasons.
Not that it was ever much of a question, but having played most recently for the New York Jets, many fans wondered whether or not Forte would return to Chicago one last time. Alas, it looks like Forte is going to complete his retirement the only way he could.
Forte ends his 10-year career having averaged almost 1,000 rushing yards per season with a career total of 9,796 yards on the ground. Forte notched 54 career rushing touchdowns as well.

One of the best all-around backs of his generation, Forte was known for being able to catch the ball out of the backfield better than just about anybody. He boasts 554 career receptions for a total of 4,672 yards and 21 touchdown receptions.
Forte spent most of his career being highly underrated, partially because of the offensive struggles on the majority of his teams. Many times, he was the lone bright spot for the Bears on offense.
