Chicago Bears: Recap of combine workouts for top 5 wide receivers
By Ryan Heckman
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 210
Projected round: Second
40-yard dash: 4.42
Vertical: 39.5″
Broad jump: 11″
Now, this is a kid I can get pumped up about. D.J. Moore was simply amazing over the weekend and, in my opinion, may have had the best overall combine performance among wide receivers.
Let me start with a very, very interesting comparison here. Earlier, I mentioned Ridley. Without a doubt, Ridley is going in the first round. Moore, on the other hand, will likely go in the second.
Take a look back at Ridley’s measurements and key numbers, if you need to. But, he and Moore are the exact same height. Moore outweighs him by about 20 pounds, yet ran the 40 a shade quicker.
Moore’s vertical was a whopping 8.5 inches higher than that of Ridley, and his broad jump was nearly two entire feet longer than the former.
That is remarkable, folks.
If Chicago is looking for a steal in the second round, look no further than this versatile playmaker out of Maryland. Moore is another guy that may have done enough to spark some interest in those teams owning a late first rounder, but it could also be getting crowded in that area.
Looking at Nagy and Pace’s styles, Moore fits exactly the type of player they want on the Bears. He is insanely athletic and can go up and make the spectacular catches that wind up on highlight reels the next morning.
I would even go so far as to say that I might even think Moore is the better raw talent between he and Ridley — go ahead, stone me. But, when I think about Nagy and what he’s going to do with this offense, I can see Moore making a heck of a lot more plays than I could with Ridley.
Maybe it’s just me, but this is a guy I would stand up and cheer for if he was announced as a selection of our beloved Bears.
