Chicago Bears: Ranking the top 10 current players on roster
By Ryan Heckman
5. G Kyle Long
Experience: Sixth season
Drafted: 2013, first round, 20th overall by CHI
Since becoming a member of the Bears organization in 2013, Kyle Long has been one of the most likable guys on the team. If for some reason you don’t like him, I question whether or not you are even a fan.
Aside from being a stud on the field, Long is one of the must-follow players on social media. He is fantastic about interacting with his fans, including some of the hecklers. Always entertaining, Long puts it all out there for everyone to see.
He might be a legend on Twitter, but he’s also pretty good on the field. Injuries have given Long a tough time over the course of the last two years, but when he is healthy, there are few better at the guard position.
Long was voted a Pro Bowl selection in each of his first three seasons with the Bears, missing only one game overall. In 2016 and 2017, though, Long missed a total of 14 games due to injury.
2018 has to be the year of the comeback for the former Oregon standout. Offensively, he has been one of their vocal leaders ever since being drafted. He is never afraid to get on his teammates if they aren’t performing up to snuff, and he’s hard on himself as well.
There are few players that come off as more loyal to the Bears than Long does. It’s definitely not an act. He bleeds blue and orange. While the last two years have been tough, I expect Long to come back better than ever this fall.
