10. S Adrian Amos

Experience: Fourth Season

Drafted: 2015, fifth round, 142nd overall by CHI

Adrian Amos came into Chicago as a project. He was known to be one of the more fierce tacklers coming out of college, and that is something the Bears needed badly. Prior to Amos’ arrival, the Bears had a few seasons over about six or seven years that were chock full of poor tackling.

Amos came here to change all of that.

As a rookie, Amos played all 16 games for the Bears and tallied 67 tackles.

The former Penn State Nittany Lion wound up number four overall on the Pro Football Focus Defensive Rookie of the Year rankings — not bad for a fifth round pick.

In 2016, he appeared to take a step backwards and didn’t have the same wherewithal as he did his rookie campaign. 2016 was just a bad year in general for the Bears, but thankfully he bounced back in 2017.

Last year, Amos cracked the top 101 players according to Pro Football Focus. Where did he finish? Amos was slotted at 32 — the 32nd highest graded player in football. I’d say it’s a safe bet to assume he is back to form.

Amos has given the Bears something they have desperately needed on defense, and that is consistency. Not only is he consistently on the field, rarely getting injured, but now in his third season under Vic Fangio, he is considered one of the leaders of the group. He is part of a promising, young safety tandem that could be dangerous for years to come.
