Chicago Bears: Matt Forte already among Bears greats
Forte completes improbable comeback against Kansas City
As mentioned before, Forte had a way of coming through when you needed a big play the most. And that was true whether the team was winning or losing.
The 2015 season didn’t amount to much for the Chicago Bears as they went 6-10 in their first year under John Fox. But they still had their moments as a team.
And Forte helped deliver one of those shining moments as the Bears stunned the Kansas City Chiefs on the road.
With Chicago trailing by 11 points with 3:11 left in the game, Cutler dropped a dime to Marquess Wilson to bring the score to 17-12.
Then, the Bears got a stop and had one more chance to complete the upset over the Chiefs. And with 24 seconds left, magic happened.
When the play started, of course, it looked like a complete disaster. Cutler dropped the snap and had to quickly recover if he had any chance to hit the wide-open Forte on the wheel route. But he did, and he threw a perfect ball.
Naturally, the ever-reliable Forte made the clutch grab, and the Bears went on to win 18-17.
How many running backs do you see teams trying to scheme open for end zone routes like that? And how many backs could consistently handle essentially being a team’s offense for entire seasons?
Forte was that type of player for almost his entire Bears career.
