Jaire Alexander, Louisville

Height: 5’11”

Weight: 192

If Jaire Alexander makes it into the third round, he will be a guy to watch for on the Bears’ radar. The Louisville product is somewhat of a wildcard, but his talent could prove to translate well as a pro. Alexander may end up being a steal.

One of the top reasons he is a wildcard is due to his injury history. Just last season, Alexander dealt with a knee injury early on. This caused him to miss four games.

Later in the year, he broke his hand and ended up missing another pair of games. Because of these two injuries, his draft stock is up in the air. A solid combine may change that.

Something that Vic Fangio will like about Alexander when looking at his tape is the way he keeps his eyes on the quarterback. This is something often overlooked, because corners have so many responsibilities.

The ability to not only keep with the receiver, but keep tabs on the quarterback’s eyes, is a rare talent to possess.

Alexander is a very athletic and speedy cornerback. In fact, many analysts believe he will run near a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. A quick, athletic and instinctive cornerback would greatly lift the Bears on defense.

Again, he is talented in many areas. The problem has been durability. Alexander could have wound up as a potential first round grade. But, maybe this could be a blessing in disguise for Chicago. Watch for Alexander to slip into day two and for Pace to keep an eye on him.
