The Chicago White Sox kick off Spring Training on Friday at Camelback Ranch against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Baseball is back! After a long, long offseason, the Chicago White Sox are finally back in action.

The South Siders start Cactus League play on Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch.

More from Da Windy City

The White Sox leave behind an offseason that was relatively quiet in comparison to recent ones.

The club added relief arms Joakim Soria and Luis Avilan, as well as a clear starting catcher in Welington Castillo.

Star players Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia were the subjects of trade talks, but nothing came close to materializing.

The Chicago White Sox enter the 2018 season with a shell of the 2017 opening day roster. Despite the subtractions, the excitement level is high on the South Side, as it should be.

Centerfield, closer and designated hitter are among the biggest position battles to watch this spring. The biggest thing to watch could be the prospects, which there are a plethora of this spring. We’ll get to that later.

First pitch is at 2:05 central time. Dylan Covey will get the start for the Chicago White Sox, opposing Wilmer Font for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Covey will look to avenge his disastrous rookie season, in which he went 0-7 with a 7.71 ERA.

After Thursday, the next day without any baseball will be during the All-Star break. Buckle up Sox fans! It’s going to be a fun ride.
