3. Jordan wins All-Star MVP in 1998

With the 1997-1998 season shaping up (and proving to be) the end of the Chicago Bulls’ dynastic run and Kobe Bryant emerging as the heir apparent in the league, Michael Jordan gave one last iconic All-Star performance in a Chicago Bulls uniform.

With Bryant starting opposite him on the Western Conference All-Star team, Jordan made sure to remind him who the king was. He scored the first basket of the game with his patented fadeaway over Kevin Garnett and never looked back.

By the time it was over, Jordan had racked up 23 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three steals. He led all scorers in the game.

And even at age 35, facing down a fresh-faced 18-year-old challenger that would come to emulate him in almost every way, Jordan’s star power couldn’t be diminished.

Though he didn’t go for a triple-double the way he did the previous year, the moment made it special. After all, who knew if this would be it for Jordan after that season (as we know, it was…and yet it wasn’t)? Who knew if this really was “The Last Dance” or not?

That All-Star MVP trophy presentation definitely had that feel to it. That only makes this particular All-Star performance stand out even more for Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.
